Please let me know if you found that helpful or if it was all gibberish! I am practising writing in US crochet, even though my mother and my crochet teacher both use UK crochet. I wish there was just one crochet language, that would make things a bit simpler, don't you think?
Hi! I'm having no problem following your pattern; it's just fine! And it's really adorable! Thanks so much for sharing it! :)
ReplyDeleteoh, thankyou so much, I'm glad to hear you're able to follow my pattern <3
ReplyDeleteWhat size hook are you using and what type of yarn?
ReplyDeleteFor this doily, I used a 2mm hook and 4 ply cotton. Thankyou for pointing that out, I've now added it to the post. There is no gauge for this pattern, as the size hook and yarn will determine the size of the doily.
ReplyDeleteI'm making a dozen or so and joining the motifs to make a scarf.
ReplyDeletereally? I'd love to see a photo of your scarf, maybe post it to Ravelry?
ReplyDeleteHI,
ReplyDeleteI had some questions about the pattern. How many do you initially chain then join to make the ring? In round 1 it says work into the chain but it would need to be worked into the ring to make the 8 spokes as you wrote it. I didn't know that writing a pattern was any different in the UK. I learned something new./ Really glad I found your site. It's a beautiful coaster
Hi Heather, thanks for your comment. I put 7 spokes into the very first chain, the 2nd and 3rd chain count as the 1st spoke which gives you the 8. It makes for a tight starting circle. I will ammend the pattern to make that more clear. And yes, crochet is written differently in England so countries like Australia and South Africa traditionally have different patterns than America.
ReplyDeleteHi Teena, great doily. I tweaked it a bit as we generally work in UK terms here in Australia and I found the initial step of each round a little confusing. But the shape and look of the doily is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHi Bree, the reason why I write my patterns in US crochet is because most readers of my blog are from America. I will include a UK version if its requested, as I have been taught UK crochet originally as I am in Australia <3
ReplyDeleteVery easy to follow. Worked up in minutes.
ReplyDeleteMay I use this lovely pattern and sell what I make? I can add a link to this page is you like :)
ReplyDeleteThat's fine, goodluck with your selling!
DeleteThank you, this is such a pretty pattern :)
